Sanibel Causeway Damages Imaged by COSMO-SkyMed

The Task 2 team has obtained first SAR images of the region on Florida's west coast affected by the landfall of Hurricane Ian. As an example, this page shows a COSMO-SkyMed SAR image of the Sanibel Causeway, which was heavily damaged, as reported in the news. The SAR image was acquired on September 29, 11:22 UTC (07:22 local time), and downlinked and processed by the University of Miami's satellite data receiving and processing facility CSTARS. The animated GIF below shows a comparison with an optical image from January 2021, as available on Google Earth.
